THE OWU MONTHLY FEBRUARY

A note from our Deputy Vice Chancellor Dr. Andrew Mulenga
Dear Students
The academic year 2023 is officially here — welcome!

Congratulations to all returning students on what you have accomplished thus far, and a warm welcome to the new students who have been accepted into Zambia’s first creative arts university.

On behalf of the academic team and staff I am honoured that you choose to entrust your creative future to Open Window University.
We are excited to have you join our artistic community.

You will have the exceptional opportunity to participate in essential and progressive programmes that challenge the status quo. Learner-centred, enquiry-based and experiential learning will help you grow more and more independent on your journey.

Our team of enthusiastic and committed academic staff look forward to supporting you in realising your full creative potential. We want you to hit the ground running as we move together, from your career dreams to industry-ready graduation in the creative arts.

On the first day of the new academic year, I send you all my very best wishes. Allow it to be different and fascinating for you. Allow it to produce fresh insights and learnings. Allow it to offer brand new difficulties that we can tackle together.
– Dr. Andrew M. Mulenga

OPEN MIC WINNERS RADIO INTERVIEW

On 6 September 2022, Stanbic Bank graciously hosted a Youth Research Programme and a Financial Literacy Information session for our students. The warm gesture by Stanbic Bank clearly lifted the learners, grateful for priceless information on money management.

PARENT’S EVENING
On Friday 17 February, we hosted our 2023 Parents’ Evening. The welcome speech was conducted by our Deputy Vice Chancellor Dr Andrew Mulenga. The order of events was carried out by our Registrar Mrs Rumbie Zawu-Nkhonjera. Our current events, academic structure, introduction of new programmes and vision were shared in a presentation by our Chief Strategy Officer Mr Pluto Panoussis. We welcomed and thoroughly enjoyed our students’ and parents’ feedback. It was a meaningful way to engage and plan our journey forward.
This is a truly exciting year for Open Window University, as we have our first ever 4th year students. Together, we commit to cultivating the arts, maintaining relevance and nurturing outstanding individuals in the creative arts landscape.

GRADUATION

University proudly hosted its third graduation with the class of 2022. 26 students graduated from which six emerged as best students. Ambassador of the Republic of Zambia, Mumba S. Kapumba SC, was our esteemed guest speaker. He had this to say to the graduates:
“This is the first step. Go into the world to show the world that you have creative skills to make Zambia, Africa, the world a better place.”

Well done to our creative arts graduates! We wish you tremendous luck with your future endeavours.
