SHARE YOUR GREATEST CAREER ACHIEVEMENTS
My biggest achievement is staying true to myself and my core values, regardless of many situations that could have pushed me in a different direction. Other than that, I was part of a team that set up the credit unit of a financial institution I previously worked for. I was also a core member of one the leading media companies in Zambia, where I was responsible for running some very successful marketing campaigns.

DO YOU INTEND TO FURTHER YOUR STUDIES?
I want to say no, but I definitely will. 😁 I would love to get a masters in film and probably a masters in marketing and/or digital communications.

WHAT IS YOUR LECTURING PHILOSOPHY?
My teaching philosophy is a student-focused one. My role as a lecturer is not only to impart information but to facilitate important discussions, debates and conversations around the subject material. Allowing students to drive their own experience and take responsibility for their own learning. I’m of the view that learning should be fun. It helps students retain information better.

WORDS OF ADVICE FOR ASPIRING MARKETING STUDENTS?
Develop a strong foundation in marketing theory, build a diverse skill set, stay up to date with industry trends, gain hands-on experience, and build a strong network. Be creative and innovative in your work!

WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR LOVE FOR FILM?
I have always loved stories. Being a visual learner, film has always appealed to me. Meaningful narrative and concepts move me. I also love colour, and film does a great job of showcasing the magic of colour.

WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT FOR ASPIRING FILMMAKERS?
No matter who you are and where you are from, your stories are valid. You have a unique voice and novel experience. There will always be people who can relate to and appreciate your story. Expose yourself to a lot of films. Learn the history of film. Be well versed with the different forms and styles. Find a mentor. Find like-minded people you can bounce ideas off of and collaborate with. And most importantly practice, practice, practice.

WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR MOST CREATIVE IDEAS?
Mostly in the shower. But also, from watching or listening to stuff that inspires me. Honestly, inspiration can and does come from anywhere.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE QUOTE?
“In the end, we always win.” – Unknown
