Project Title: The Mystery of the Masked Men

Project Description: The art of black and white photography is one I have always found fascinating. And though its popularity has been somewhat challenged with the introduction of chromatic photography, this does not take away from the beauty it still holds. Drawing my inspiration from archival, monochrome photography I sought to explore the idea of the masked black man and identity; the fear of the unknown. I wanted to break away from the conventional and technical aspects of photography, and instead embrace high contrasts and elements of photo-degradation to create images enveloped in mystery and intrigue, and, resembling a different, or an alternate time period.
