GIVE INSIGHT IN YOUR TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
As a lecturer, my main objective is to create lifelong learners who possess the discipline to strive towards mastery. Mastery that will not just exist in an academic context but also for societal benefit; societal benefit in terms of skills sharing, teamwork, and value creation. I believe all this can be achieved through a combination of various delivery, collaborative, and assessment approaches. I believe in breaking down “complex” concepts into their simplest terms and their individual building blocks. These building blocks become the tools that learners use to create novel solutions as they explore possibilities as far as their creativity allows.
WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR BEAUTIFUL CREATIVE IDEAS?
The world of computing/IT isn’t very different from the real world anymore. With how pervasive IT has become, solutions need to be as close to the real world as possible. In light of this, anything in the real world can be a source of inspiration for the next best idea.
WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR PASSION FOR WHAT YOU SPECIALISED IN?
I love to solve problems.
I love to create things.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE QUOTE?
“Technology—sufficiently advanced—is indistinguishable from magic.”
– Arthur Clarke
WHAT WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT WOULD YOU GIVE TO ASPIRING INDIVIDUALS THAT WOULD LIKE TO TAKE A PATH SIMILAR TO WHAT YOU SPECIALISED IN?
Not all superheroes wear capes – some code. Go for it!
